There are words that when we read them or hear them spoken
seem to reach in and grab our hearts.

It is like these words were written just for us, and in some way help us to better understand ourselves, to feel better, or challenge us to do better. These words, whatever they may be, can be captured and expressed with the feeling of that moment, so that we never forget how they made us feel, and how important they are to us. I love the challenge of creating calligraphy and art such as this for myself and others, as keepsakes or gifts.

I started learning calligraphy in 1978, and soon became involved in the Calligraphic Arts Guild of Toronto, Ontario. As a group, we were able to bring in professional calligraphers form all over the world to teach us. In 1979, I found a book on Copperplate Calligraphy and preceded to teach myself this style as there were no teachers available in Toronto. I began teaching this lettering style, which I called English Script, in 1985, through the Etobicoke Board of Education. As the classes evolved, creative card making was added to give the students a venue for their lettering skills. Techniques such as rubber stamp art and carving, blind embossing, suminigashi, paper making, origami, Keltic knotwork, chigeria (paper tearing), quilling,
photocopy art, fold dyeing, card making, design your own alphabet, and more were taught. I continue to make these classes available in Muskoka, Ontario. I also teach other styles of lettering such as italic, lower case Roman, bookhand, uncial, Spencerian, and off hand flourishing.

I specialize in printing on Oriental papers and producing beautiful invitations for all occasions, as well as original artwork using a variety of techniques and surfaces. I started the wedding invitation business for the Japanese Paper Place (Toronto, Ontario) in 1985.

I have had three very successful one-woman shows, have been the featured calligrapher on the Hands Over Time television series produced by TVO and taught four ½ hour shows on English Script Calligraphy for Channel 10 Etobicoke. My work is published in the book, ABC Canada and an exemplar page of my Spencerian Script is in the current Speedball text book. I have also been a guest on several television shows such as Maria Duncalf's Personal Growth and Self Development on Gravenhurst Cable 10.

I live and work Bracebridge, Ontario, as a freelance calligrapher, teacher, registered nutritional consulting practitioner, Reiki mast, OMEGA EAV testing, ear candling, aromatherapy massage, and cellulite and muscle toning, stress reduction, and rejuvenation using the Jade Esthetics system.
