With a few passes of a finely tuned hand plane, the wood is transformed into a silky smooth surface with a texture that no amount of sandpaper can reproduce.

There is something truly inviting about a piece of furniture that has been shaped and worked by hand. The distinctive characteristics of a piece of wood can only be fully revealed and therefore appreciated when carefully uncovered with observant eyes and steady hands.

I am lucky enough to live in one of the most beautiful areas in the country. The many forests of Muskoka boast some of the most special and unique pieces of wood to be found anywhere.

Finding local wood that has been sustainably and responsibly harvested can present many challenges to the maker, but when a real gem is discovered it is all the more special. Very often wood that was destined for firewood yields some of the most striking grain and
beautiful form.

With an emphasis on strong, elegant joinery, and functional yet pleasing design my goal is to produce simple, honest, enduring furniture.

Work in my shop is both of my own design as well as commissions by clients.

Visitors are always welcome.
