All my life, I have studied the art of sewing. I made my first teddy bear nearly ten years ago and since then, I have created hundreds more, all the time gaining more experience and perfecting my work.

Over the years, I have participated in many shows and I am proud to say that I now have bears residing across Canada, as far south as Mexico and even abroad.

I have now retired from a 25-year career in the airline industry and have realized my dream of moving with my husband full-time to our beloved Muskoka. This has allowed me to turn my "avocation" into a "vocation" and I can now spend more time creating and designing new bears.

I welcome commission work as it offers me an opportunity to let my "creative juices" flow.

I have recently completed a website that allows everyone to view my ever-expanding collection. This year, I am pleased to announce that some of my work is also on display at the For the Love of Art Gallery in Port Carling.

Anatomy of a Drolet Bear

Drolet Bears are made almost exclusively of German Schulte mohair, although I have occasionally used Alpaca or a blend of the two.

They are fully jointed, have glass eyes and an embroidered nose. Their paw pads are most often made of ultrasuede but I do sometimes use wool felt or real leather instead.

They are filled with high-quality polyester stuffing and usually contain copper pellets for that rich, heavy feel.

Drolet Bears are created one at a time from start to finish.

Each bear’s personality evolves as it is created and as such, becomes truly unique.
