| Jane
Gordon was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. Attending North
Toronto Collegiate, Jane decided to focus on art. She studied
commercial art, a three year course under L.A.C. Panton at
Northern Vocational Institute.
While raising five
children, the only time for her art was at night classes. These
included portraiture, life drawing and ceramics.
In the 1970s, Jane and
her family moved to Muskoka where she discovered the landscapes
for her palette knife to describe the texture and colour of this
diverse land.
She joined Muskoka Arts
& Crafts and is a founding member of the well-known Brown
Baggers Art Group. This group meets once a week to paint at
different locations in beautiful Muskoka and there is a week
long painting trip in the fall.
Over the years, Jane
has received many awards and honours in juried shows and
exhibitions. Her painting, The Herons Have Gone, was chosen for
the Permanent
Collection of Muskoka Arts & Crafts.
