Patterns, textures, and smoky images in art and literature have always fascinated me. These have run through my life like a thread that gathers colour and music along the way.

I started taking lessons at Durham College, Oshawa. Since I came to painting rather late in my life, this freedom opened my mind to the joy of painting.

Many workshops with more wonderful instructors reinforced that joy and I feel that most of my paintings are an expression and extension of that first excitement I felt at that night class.

Experimentation has led me to explore printmaking, encaustic, acrylic, oil and watercolour mediums.

I have many awards in the art field, but I am happiest when discussing something that another artist or visitor to an exhibition finds interesting in a work I have painted.

During the years I have always found fellow painters in art groups in whatever area I have resided to be outgoing. A great many friendships develop with such fellowship. Sometimes painting can be a lonely existence and I love the companionship of my like-minded friends.

I can be found painting plein-aire in fairly good weather and inside my home studio at most other times.
